“Facebook” used to be when people thought of things like “status updates” and funny pictures posted by various “good” friends.
But now with social media being such huge business people are thinking “invasive” & “no privacy”. We have mentioned this loads of time before, but the only way to ensure that you remain private on Facebook… is simple “Dont be on Facebook”. This is not just on Facebook, will social media becoming so intergrated into our everyday lives, it’s become the rule of thumb for most of the internet. That embarrassing picture that was taken of you last year at a social gathering, well it could show up “anywhere and at anytime”. Keep in mind here it’s now almost standard for employers & corporations to monitor Facebook content as well. Best thing, “don’t post the picture anywhere”.
Okay, thats all well and good. But what to do when someone else posts a photo of you on Facebook? And – shoch horror, they have tagged you? Even worse, what if it’s a horrible photo that you never want any of your friends, parents and prospective employers (trust me, they ARE looking) to see on your profile?
Because, generally it’s the rule of nature that every time you do something daft, somebody’s going to catch it on film. And social media & Mobile phones now make it possible for that picture to be on the walls of millions in minutes…
The good news is, (after having you little snap at your tag happy “friend”), you can remove the unwanted tag, (untag), from the item and even set your complete profile to be “untaggable” from then on.
Here’s how to then stop people tagging you in the future:
Last But Not Least…
Just in case something, somehow in this perfect world of technological slips through the net. Get notified before it goes VIRAL. Request Facebook to let you know if yo have been tagged in anything.
